About Lantra
Lantra empowers individuals, businesses and communities to thrive in a productive, sustainable economy.

From forestry to food production, pest management to plant maintenance, the UK and Ireland’s fast-moving land-based industries are home to hundreds of exciting and interesting jobs and careers. We should know – Lantra has helped to build a sustainable, diverse workforce for 60 years.

We work closely with industry bodies, employers, governments and educators to provide quality training, career guidance and partnership opportunities, giving employers and learners the skills they need to work safely, productively and sustainably, while getting ready to meet the challenges of the future.

We’re one of the leading awarding bodies for land-based industries in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland. As a registered charity, we put the needs of learners and employers before profit. We have dedicated teams in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, all providing expert local guidance backed by years of industry experience.

Position Description

Time commitment: Four meetings per year

About the roles
As a Trustee of Lantra, you will share collective non-executive responsibility for the organisation’s governance, strategic direction, and long-term sustainability.

Trustees play a key role in setting ambition, providing constructive challenge and ensuring Lantra delivers against its mission and objectives.

While board meetings are central, Trustees are also encouraged to contribute insight, networks or advocacy where this can meaningfully support Lantra’s work, particularly with employers, policymakers and sector stakeholders.

Selection Criteria

Applications close: 9 a.m. Monday 15th June 2026

Who we are looking for
We are seeking individuals with senior executive experience and prior board or trustee experience, who are confident operating at strategic level and motivated by sector impact.

As we embark on a new five-year strategy, strong communication skills and the ability to work constructively with a wide range of stakeholders are essential, alongside the capacity to provide thoughtful challenge and independent judgement.

Trustees will be expected to engage in discussions on governance, financial oversight, risk and organisational performance, helping to ensure Lantra remains resilient, well-governed and sustainable.

In particular, we are interested in senior leaders who bring:

– Credibility within land-based, environmental or food production sectors.
– The ability to represent an employer perspective within skills and policy discussions.
– Sound judgement, independence of thought and willingness to challenge constructively.
– A commitment to being an active and engaged trustee, contributing beyond formal board meetings where appropriate.

Lantra is committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds.
