About DDAT
DDAT is a Trust that is rooted in faith and collaboration. Our schools are not carbon copies of one another — school leaders are empowered to adapt their provision to the needs of their community whilst being supported by a central team with expertise across finance, HR, operations and school improvement.

As a Diocesan Trust, we are committed to our values of Inclusivity, Integrity, Community, Excellence and Courage. We apply all of these in pursuing our vision: to nurture and empower everyone to reach their fullest potential, supporting each other on this journey to “experience life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

Supporting both church schools and community schools, these shared values are what unite us. We foster an educational environment where every person is empowered to be themselves, to excel and to flourish.

Position Description

Time commitment: 6 – 8 days per year

About the roles
We are seeking two new trustees to join the board of Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and to support our education and standards and audit and risk committees.

As we continue to evolve and meet the requirements of ongoing educational reform, we welcome individuals who will help shape our future with integrity, ambition and a deep sense of service.

As a trustee at DDAT, you will hold a strategic and non-executive role, providing oversight, support and challenge to our executive team and ensuring that the Trust delivers on its core mission: to provide excellent education, rooted in our Christian values, for all children.

Selection Criteria

Applications close: 9 a.m. Monday 18th May 2026.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for a trustee who brings specific skills and experience in safeguarding and SEND. We are also seeking a trustee with expertise in audit, risk, HR, legal or operations leadership.

Your expertise will be coupled with the personal values and mindset to contribute thoughtfully to governance in a collaborative and community-oriented trust.

You may have gained your expertise in safeguarding and SEND through policy development, leading specialist provisions, or holding senior roles within a local authority or multi‑academy trust. Whatever your professional background, having a clear understanding of the day‑to‑day realities faced by schools, as well as the Trust’s legal responsibilities in ensuring that every child is safe, supported and able to thrive, is critical. Your insight will help the board make informed, responsible decisions that strengthen practice across the Trust.

Peridot Partners and Derby Diocesan Academy Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.
